This class, which is available in two forms; one for clergy and the other for health care workers, can be offered for Social Work CEU’s through application by the sponsoring organization. This program is designed for clergy and for professional caregivers who may work with individuals and families facing major life losses particularly those experienced during and following illness and death. Participants will learn information related to the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of loss and grief that can be put to practical use in their personal and professional lives. Exploration will occur in the physical, psychological, cultural and spiritual realms. Didactic, discussion, whole group and dyad exercises, meditation, music, art and writing will ground the information in direct experience of the topics. These include, but may not be limited to: definitions of loss, grief and bereavement, dynamics in the dying process, caring for the caregiver, hospice services, sudden loss vs. prolonged illness, life review, cultural/religious practices, after death communication and writing of your own obituary. Rev. Edie Weinstein-Moser, LSW is a licensed social worker, interfaith minister, Reiki Master, clown, writer and speaker. She is the Director of ‘liveinjoy: unique and creatively designed spiritual services’. Through a series of emotional roller coaster rides, she has learned how to relax and enjoy the scenery along the way. Rev. Karen Fairman, RN is a Staff Development and Nurse Educator, Nurse Aide Program Development Consultant and Director of Peace Valley Healing Center in Doylestown, PA.
